Thomas Tuchel has raised eyebrows with his selections again after announcing the players who will make up his second squad with a couple of surprising omissions and returns.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss took charge of his first games as England boss in March, seeing off Albania and Latvia in World Cup qualifiers.

The Three Lions are now preparing to take on Andorra in another qualifier before facing Senegal in a friendly.

Eight players who were included in Tuchel's first squad have been left out, including Phil Foden, Tino Livramento, Jarrod Bowen, and Dominic Solanke. Marc Guehi and Marcus Rashford both miss out through injury.

Coming in in their place are Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bukayo Saka, who missed out through injury last time round, alongside Conor Gallagher, Noni Madueke and Ollie Watkins.

Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney is meanwhile a surprise inclusion, and Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah has earned his first senior call-up. Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White meanwhile keeps his place after being called up as a replacement for Cole Palmer in March.

The former Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea and Bayern Munich coach is trying his hand at international football for the first time with a reputation for burning briefly and brightly at the highest level of the club game.

Tuchel's latest squad continues a general preference for trusted players over in-form options.

His decision to overlook Adam Wharton and Jacob Murphy and a heavy Chelsea presence in his squad have drawn particular comment from England fans, as have the continued selection of 34 year olds Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker.

England's star player

Harry Kane

The England skipper finally got his hands on the first trophy of his career this season, helping Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title with a superb 26 goals and 10 assists in 31 league appearances.

Kane, who is ranked at no.1 in FourFourTwo's list of the best strikers in the world right now, has a massive part to play for England as he looks to tick off another major career milestone at next year's World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

With 105 caps and 71 goals to his name already for the Three Lions, and will be hoping to boost both tallies as Tuchel's side aim for their first World Cup triumph since 1966.
